Herbs and spices

For our PriSeccos, we use herbs, flowers, berries and leaves to round off, emphasise, complement or balance the unique flavour of MeadowFruit varieties. Whether PriSecco, cider or sparkling fruit wine, the following applies to all products from Manufaktur Jörg Geiger: intense aroma and exceptional flavour, because we only use hand-picked, single-variety MeadowFruit. Fair: We pay the farmers and estate owners very good prices so that it is worthwhile for them to harvest and preserve the MeadowFruit trees.

Sustainable: Orchards are a sustainable way of farming and it goes without saying that we also pay attention to sustainability in the cultivation and harvesting of herbs, flowers and berries.

Pure nature: All our products are guaranteed to be made without chemical additives such as colourings, flavour enhancers or stabilisers.

Biodiversity and landscape conservation: Orchard meadows characterise our landscape and with the variety of plants that thrive there, they are a refuge for a multitude of animals, birds and insects. This is another reason why we are committed to preserving them.

Wormwood

Lad's love is a perennial, mostly herbaceous plant with growth heights of 40 to 60, occasionally up to 150 centimetres. The plant appears greyish-green above ground and has a strong aromatic scent.

Yarrow

It can be found in every meadow from the beginning of spring through to summer. Yarrow has a slightly bitter flavour and is an excellent counterbalance to the sweetness of fruit.

Meadowsweet

A perennial plant that often grows on the edges of meadow orchards. We harvest meadowsweet in August when it is in flower. The scent is reminiscent of evergreen and the flavour is similar to that of almonds.

Juniper

The barren high valleys of the Swabian Alb and dry, sunny slopes are ideal for juniper. We are not only interested in the blue berries, which take two years to ripen, but we also harvest the young shoots, which give us a peppery spiciness.

Sweet Woodruff

It is easiest to find on a walk through a shady copper beech forest in May: light green cushions, delicate leaves, small white flowers and a very characteristic scent.

Elderberry

White blossom cones have an intense flavour that is ideal for making drinks. Elderflowers were not only used to make homemade lemonade, the whole cones, dipped in a thin batter and baked, are a popular dessert.

Nettle

The young leaves in particular have a tart, fresh, aromatic flavour. Nevertheless, it is a good idea to wear gloves when harvesting. Nettle is also one of the oldest known medicinal herbs.
